Individual Therapy

So much of what brings people to therapy comes down to one thing: feeling stuck. Stuck in a groundhogs day of conflict with your partner, stuck in the same relationship dynamic in every relationship you find yourself in, stuck with the pain that interacting with your family causes, stuck in self-doubt, stuck with a sense of incompetence and feeling like you are wrong or bad or the problem.

My work is about helping you get unstuck. Unstuck from painful relationships dynamics, cruel inner critics that give you that awful feeling that something is wrong with you, and helping you feel more confident, self-assured and at peace within yourself.

My approach is rooted in a blend of using Internal Family Systems (IFS). This means we'll get curious about the different parts of you — the part that keeps choosing the wrong person, the part that feels that it has to be perfect before you share you work, the part that feels like its all your fault or that something is wrong with you. In addition to IFS, I use a blend of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Transforming Shame, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) based on what you need and feel resonates. No matter the model, we move at your pace, your speed, and what your nervous system needs.

Couples Therapy

Do you find yourself unable to escape a constant cycle of miscommunications and conflict with your partner? Seemingly unimportant stuff blowing up into much bigger fights? You might feel like your partner doesn’t really listen or hear you - they might get defensive every time you have a fight and/or they withdraw and leave you feeling alone in the relationship.

Relationships can be an area where we experience life’s most incredible highs and lows. The deep satisfaction and joy of connection can turn into incredible sorrow, frustration and pain as the many tendrils of a previously felt connection are frayed, worn thin and broken from unresolved conflict. The diverse experiences of our lives lead us to have differences in perspectives, styles of communication, and expectations of what love should be.

These conflicts can be opportunities for growth and transformation within the relationship, and can become a healthy part of our connection to each other that actually allow us to feel a greater sense of closeness and connection to one another. I use Emotionally Focused Therapeutic (EFT) to slow things down, figure out what is keeping you locked in ongoing cycles of conflict, and find safe and effective ways of communicating with one another so you feel heard and understood. A part of all couples therapy includes working on communication skills which means learning about your attachment styles and the feelings that drive our connection and conflict with one another, learning to identify your needs and desires, and speak them clearly and confidently.

If any of this resonates, I’d be happy to jump on a free 20-minute consultation call so you can get to know me a little, and get a feeling for what working together might be like.
